UPM wins Most Entrepreneurial Public University 2016
KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 26 – For the first time, Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has won the Most Entrepreneurial Public University award at the Ministry of Higher Education Entrepreneurial Awards (MEA) 2016 event.
UPM Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini Ideris received the award which was presented by Higher Education Minister, Datuk Seri Idris Jusoh, in the event held at a hotel here.
She received an entrepreneurial development grant valued RM200,000, a trophy, plaque and a certificate.
Also present were Deputy Higher Education Minister, Datuk Dr. Mary Yap Kain Ching and the ministry’s secretary-general, Tan Sri Dr. Noorul Ainur Mohd Nur.
The awards were presented in appreciation of the initiatives and efforts by higher institutions of learning that performed excellently in education and entrepreneurship development programmes.
Among the categories contested were Best Student Enterprise, Best Social Entrepreneurship Project and Best Entrepreneurship Mentor.
Prof. Datin Paduka Dr. Aini, meanwhile, said she was grateful that UPM had won the award, expressing her gratitude to staff and students.
She also said that the victory showed that UPM staff and students could do well in winning major contests in entrepreneurship.
“I hope that all students will get themselves involve in programmes which are carried out by the university so that they will be more successful in the future,” she said. – UPM.
