AMIR NAIM MAT AYOB WINS SHELL MYDINAR CAREER GOLD MEDAL AT UPM’S 48TH CONVOCATION CEREMONY

SERDANG, November 30, 2024 – Bachelor of Education (Guidance and Counseling) graduate from the Faculty of Educational Studies, Amir Naim Mat Ayob, has been named this year’s recipient of the Shell MyDinar Career Gold Medal.

He received the prestigious award from His Royal Highness Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah Alhaj, the Chancellor of UPM, during the 48th UPM Convocation Ceremony held today.

"Alhamdulillah, I am very grateful for this honor. I am overjoyed that all my hard work in studying while actively participating in various co-curricular programs, including directly managing career programs at the faculty, university, and national levels, has resulted in today’s success," he said when interviewed after the ceremony.

Further elaborating, he mentioned that every career development program he participated in provided immense benefits not only to himself but also to his peers and the surrounding community. Despite being busy with numerous extracurricular activities, he reminded students never to neglect their primary responsibilities as learners.

Amir was actively involved in organizing and executing various career programs, such as Career Days, Resume Preparation and Interview Preparation Workshops, Career Bootcamps, and more.

Meanwhile, Associate Professor Dr. Hizmawati Madzin, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Development and Graduate Marketability (CEM), emphasized the importance of industry involvement in student career development activities. She noted that the collaboration between universities and industries enhances mutual benefits, expertise, perspectives, and experiences.

"The sponsorship of university awards by MyDinar Kiosk has enabled the recognition of graduates who strive to improve themselves and others, preparing them for their future roles as K-workers."

UPM introduced the Shell MyDinar Career Gold Medal in 2023, sponsored by MyDinar Kiosk, which operates a fuel retail business at the Shell Station in Subang Jaya, Selangor. The award includes a cash prize of RM5,000, a gold medal, and an achievement certificate for five years, from 2023 to 2027. - CEM
