Felda Bukit Ramun, 28 February 2025 – A monitoring visit under the University Community Socio-Entrepreneurship (UCSE) initiative was conducted at the site of the Tapai Maro Maro project in Felda Bukit Ramun, Johor. The visit was led by Dr. Mohd Amri Md Yunus and Ms. Azlina Pareng from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), Skudai.

The main objective of this visit was to evaluate the progress and outcomes of the project’s first phase, which has been implemented by Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) alumnus, Muhammad Ikram Marozan, together with his team members. The project is carried out under the guidance and mentorship of Associate Professor Dr. Mass Hareeza Ali, who has been actively involved in supporting the team throughout the implementation process.
The Tapai Maro Maro project is a community-based social entrepreneurship initiative focusing on the production and marketing of modernised traditional fermented rice dessert (tapai), inspired by local heritage and adapted for today’s consumer market. This initiative not only empowers alumni and local youth in the field of food entrepreneurship, but also holds potential to become a model project under the UCSE programme nationwide.

The monitoring session included a site visit, review of project progress reports, a discussion with project participants, and a direct feedback session from the UTM monitoring representatives. The first phase was reported to be progressing well, with several constructive suggestions put forward to enhance sustainability and long-term impact.
This visit reflects the university’s ongoing commitment to nurturing social entrepreneurs and driving community transformation through knowledge-based initiatives.
