UPM, TALENTCORP HELP MATCH NEW STUDENTS' TALENTS WITH THEIR CHOSEN FIELDS

SERDANG, Oct 8 – Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) and TalentCorp today shared career pathway planning guidance with new students. The MyNext: Your Future Career program aims to guide students in mapping their future careers from the first year using the MyNext portal.

This portal also provides tools such as the Work Interest (RIASEC) and Personality & Motivation (OCEAN) tests to help students make informed career choices, and supports them in exploring career opportunities and addressing challenges in the job market.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hizmawati Madzin, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship and Graduate Employability (CEM), emphasized that CEM is responsible for improving students' and graduates' employability.

UPM recorded an outstanding employability rate, achieving 99.4% for two consecutive years, in 2022 and 2023, demonstrating the wide range of career opportunities for graduates.

“Through this sharing session, we hope it will help students make career choices that align with their qualifications, ensuring a brighter future,” she said.

She also highlighted the job opportunities for graduate entrepreneurs, where students who wish to work independently can venture into entrepreneurship, offering various creative and innovative opportunities.

“With the support and guidance provided, they can leverage the knowledge and skills gained during their studies to start their own businesses.

“This not only helps improve their employability but also has the potential to create new jobs, contribute to the economy, and expand UPM’s influence in producing more competitive young entrepreneurs,” she added.

This session, specially organized for new students, is in line with UPM’s 2021-2025 Strategic Plan, which aims to produce resilient graduates to face future challenges – CEM.
