Serdang, 17 August - The Higher Education Institutions Rating System (SETARA) audit is taking place for 2 days starting 16 & 17 August 2022 at Asia Pacific University of Technology & Innovation (APU), Malaysia Technology Park is an important process to measure the achievement rating of a university.

The assessment is one of the continuous improvement efforts or Continous Quality Improvement (CQI) from the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) in continuously improving the culture of academic quality improvement.

Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Academic and Internationalization), Prof. Dr. Ismi Arif Ismail said the audit of SETARA audit  is very important to measure the institution of higher learning.

"The audit is done using the six-tier method, from Tier 1 (Weak Status) to Tier Level 6 (Multiple Status).

"This audit process is very important to measure the academic quality, accountability and performance of every public university and private university in Malaysia with emphasis on first degree teaching and learning," he said.

SETARA's rating is evaluated through 38 indicators comprising 4 main core functions, namely General, Teaching and Learning (PdP), Research and Services. More than 10 Responsibility Centres (PTJs) were directly and indirectly involved in providing input throughout the audit.

The Auditors' Panel for SETARA assessment in 2022 are Prof. Dr. Phua Kia Kien (USM), Prof. Dr. Mohd Fadzillah Abdul Razak (USIM) and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Ramlah Mailok (UPSI).

Hopefully, UPM remains in the Tier 6 position of the achievement of the Distinguished Status and that success will enable UPM to enjoy many benefits.
