Job Hunting and Networking (JoHAN) [formerly known as Student Service Program (PKP)] is a gig economy program - part-time work offered by The PTJ of UPM to students according to specific terms and references. PTJ can appoint students to work part-time to cultivate and enhance students' soft skills.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS of JoHAN

Students must still have an active status at UPM.

  1. Students are obligated to maintain a demeanor characterized by good conduct and behavior following the established standards and regulations of the institution.

  2. Students with 'warning' and 'probation' status may be allowed to participate in the Student Service Program with written permission, provided reasonable grounds and reasons are stated by the Head of the PTJ/ Faculty Dean.

  4. Students must possess special expertise or training or have previous experience in the assigned task.

  5. Students should not have any medical conditions that may hinder the assigned work or pose a risk to their health.

  6. Students should not have any familial relationship with any UPM officer at the assigned workplace.

  7. Students agree to maintain the confidentiality of any information acquired during the task.

  8. Students agree to limit their presence to specific locations directly related to the assigned work.

  9. Students acknowledge and agree to the main terms of the JoHAN Program, which stipulate that during the assigned work, students are not employees of UPM, and UPM is not their employer.

  10. Students may apply to terminate their participation in this program by providing notice to the department (PTJ) where they are assigned within two (2) working days. The PTJ has the right to terminate a student's participation in the Student Service Program at any time by giving two (2) working days' notice.

  11. Students will be paid at the following hourly rates:

    (i) RM6.00 per hour for a maximum of four (4) hours per day and five (5) days per week, totaling 100 hours per month during the semester.

    (ii) RM6.00 per hour and a maximum of 160 hours per month during semester breaks.

    (iii) According to rates approved by the PTJ management (ongoing/ one-off).

  12. Students must make claims for work payments conducted each month and submit them to the PTJ where the student is assigned before or on the sixth (6th) day of the following month.

  13. Students acknowledge and accept that the right to receive payment for work performed is subject to UPM's right to deduct any part of the payment to settle any outstanding debts.

  14. The JoHAN Program includes service/task payments to UPM students (not for research purposes), such as payments:

    (i) as facilitators for programs in PTJ.

    (ii) as secretaries for programs/activities in PTJ.

    (iii) as speakers/lecturers for PTJ programs (subject to PTJ approval).

    (iv) as assistants for specific PTJ programs (one-off).

  15. Only UPM students offered direct JoHAN Program positions by university departments (PTJ) do not need to fill out an application form.
