History of Establishment
The Centre of Entrepreneurial Development and Graduate Marketability (CEM) was established on January 25, 2013, based on the approval of the Vice-Chancellor of UPM during the 470th University Management Committee Meeting to rename the Career Placement Center (CPC) of UPM to CEM. (Refer to Minutes of JPU 470.03(d)).
The establishment of this center was in line with the directive of YB Dato’ Seri Mohamad Khaled Nordin, the Minister of Higher Education at that time, to establish Entrepreneurship Centers at the level of Responsibility Centers (PTJ) in all IPTAs to implement the IPT Entrepreneurship Development Policy by the Ministry of Higher Education (KPT).
Previously, two (2) PTJs were involved in the restructuring:
They became two (2) new PTJs:
Objectives
The establishment of CEM aims to encourage and enhance more systematic and holistic (1) entrepreneurship development and (2) graduate employability activities among local IPTs. This is in line with the Ministry of Higher Education's aspiration to produce high-quality human capital with a high level of entrepreneurial thinking, attributes, and values, ultimately enhancing the employability of students upon graduation.
CEM is part of the entities under the Deputy Vice-Chancellor's Office (Student Affairs and Alumni Affairs).
