CEM ORGANIZED FIRST UPM GRADUATE EMPLOYABILITY WORKSHOP

SERDANG, August 22 - The Center for Entrepreneurial Development and Graduate Marketability (CEM) organized the UPM Graduate Employability Workshop in collaboration with the UPM Graduate Employability Task Force (GE) on August 22-23, 2024, at Dewan Putra PKPP.

This inaugural workshop aimed to strengthen strategies for UPM graduates' employability through strategic collaboration with various Responsibility Centers (PTJ) in general and Faculties in particular.

According to the Director of CEM, Associate Professor Dr. Hizmawati Madzin, the primary objective of the workshop was to present the latest data on UPM graduate employability for the year 2023.

“CEM sought to provide a platform for discussions with the GE task force at the Faculties and other PTJs to address the issues and challenges faced, particularly in ensuring that graduates secure employment after graduation,” she said.

She added that the workshop also discussed solutions and resolutions with Faculties and other PTJs to enhance the alignment of UPM graduates' soft skills with industry needs.

Faculties and PTJs were also given the opportunity to present their best methods and practices in data collection and the development of the graduate employability ecosystem at their respective PTJs, with the goal of collectively achieving the targets set in the Graduate Employability Strategic Plan 2021-2025 by the Ministry of Higher Education.

Meanwhile, UPM Vice-Chancellor, Dato’ Prof. Dr. Ahmad Farhan Mohd Sadullah, expressed his satisfaction with the sharing sessions of best practices by the Faculties, ensuring that other Faculties benefit from the information.

“This reflects that at UPM, we cannot move forward solo by Faculty alone. Instead, we need to move as one team by sharing best practices among the Faculties to ensure UPM graduates become 'Industry-Ready Graduates'.

This, in turn, increases the percentage of graduates working in their field with progressive, quality salaries that meet industry requirements,” he further explained.

During the event, the UPM Vice-Chancellor also launched the UPM Graduate Employability (GE) Dashboard.

The GE Dashboard, developed by CEM, is an initiative to continuously monitor UPM graduates' employability data with fast online access in real-time. - CEM
