CEMREX GENERATES INCOME BY PLANTING 100 PINEAPPLE TREES

SERDANG, 11th March 2024 - The Green Sustainability Program - MD2 Pineapple Tree Planting Project was held at the green site of the Center of Entrepreneurial Development and Graduate Marketability (CEM) on 6th March 2024, aimed at providing income to the CEM Recreation Club (CEMRex).

The program was led by Zulkifli Mohammad, who acted as a mentor to 11 CEM staff members attending the program.

According to Zulkifli, participants were not only exposed to the method of planting pineapple trees, but they were also given the opportunity to experience being farmers themselves to ensure that the plants could thrive and yield future returns.

"This tree planting activity actually supports the main agenda of Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) that need to be achieved by UPM and our country," he added.

One of the participants, Norhisham Shaari, President of CEMRex, said that finally he understood the correct way to plant pineapple trees with simple techniques that could bring long-term additional income to CEMREX.

"We learned very interesting planting techniques, where we could determine the suitable soil size for each pineapple tree and the life span of the trees before yielding results within a 9-month period," he said.

The CEM Green Sustainability Program was organized by the CEMRex Club in collaboration with the Center for Entrepreneurship and Graduate Employability Development.
