SERDANG, 24 November – Berjaya Sompo Insurance, in collaboration with the Center for Entrepreneurial Development and Graduates Marketability (CEM) and the Office of the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student Affairs and Alumni) UPM, has awarded an education grant of RM10,000 to Muhammad Haikal Daniel bin Mohd Zainizam.

Haikal, a first-semester student pursuing a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics (Honors) at the School of Business and Economics, Universiti Putra Malaysia, has gained public attention for his inspiring story.

According to Mohd Fauzi Bin Kassim, Human Resource Manager of Berjaya Sompo Insurance, Haikal’s perseverance and determination in overcoming life’s challenges to continue his studies captured their attention, leading to this recognition under the BSIB 2024 CSR Education Assistance Program.

“This effort is also aligned with Berjaya Sompo Insurance’s commitment to Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) initiatives,” he added.

Meanwhile, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Hizmawati Madzin, Director of CEM, stated that CEM’s initiative to secure this contribution is not just financial aid but also a symbol of confidence in Haikal’s great potential to achieve his dreams and contribute back to society.

“UPM extends its gratitude and appreciation to Berjaya Sompo Insurance for their generosity in providing this contribution.

“I believe Haikal will study with even greater enthusiasm,” she added.

Haikal, when met after the education grant presentation ceremony, expressed his gratitude to Berjaya Sompo for significantly easing his financial burden in funding his studies.

“This assistance means so much to me!” he said with heartfelt gratitude.
