Seberang Perai, 10 January 2025 – The Entrepreneurship Student Cooperative of Universiti Putra Malaysia Berhad (KOSISWA UPM) has made history by winning the Special Award: Aspiring Student Cooperative at the National School Cooperative Excellence Awards (AKKS), School Cooperative Tourism Award(PKS), and Young School Cooperative Icon Award 2024.

The event, organized by the National Cooperative Movement of Malaysia Berhad (ANGKASA), took place at Pearl View Hotel, Seberang Perai, Penang. It was officiated by Dato’ Haji Mohd Jamil Othman, Chairman of ANGKASA Penang State Committee. Also in attendance was Dato’ Haji Kamarudin Ismail, Chairman of the Cooperative Development Group and Board Member of the International Cooperative Alliance (ICA).

This award recognizes KOSISWA UPM's commitment and success in enhancing entrepreneurial and cooperative activities at UPM. Their outstanding performance demonstrates the cooperative's ability to foster an entrepreneurial culture and boost students' economic capabilities.

According to Associate Professor Dr. Hizmawati Madzin, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurial Development and Graduate Employability (CEM) at Universiti Putra Malaysia, KOSISWA UPM’s success reflects the significant potential of student cooperatives, contributing not only to students' economy but also enhancing UPM’s reputation.

"This achievement results from the diligent efforts of KOSISWA UPM’s members to elevate UPM students' cooperative entrepreneurial skills by developing campus businesses, thereby increasing KOSISWA UPM’s revenue.

"CEM is committed to continue supporting such initiatives to ensure our graduates remain highly competitive nationally and globally," she added.

The three-day program, which began on 10 January 2025, gathered over 300 school and higher education institution cooperatives from across the country, serving as an excellent platform for sharing knowledge and experiences. - CEM.
