THE SECURITIES COMMISSION MALAYSIA'S INVESTED PROGRAMME RESONATES AT UPM CAMPUS

Serdang, 15 November 2023 – The Securities Commission Malaysia (SC) in collaboration with Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) has organised an INVESTED programme on this campus, an initiative aimed at improving financial literacy and investment awareness among students.

The program was introduced in a launching ceremony attended by various parties including representatives from the SC, UPM management, and university students. INVESTED in UPM brings together a series of workshops, talks, and financial education activities specifically designed to provide students with basic knowledge in the field of investment and finance.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mass Hareeza Ali, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Graduate Employability (CEM) UPM, welcomed this initiative by saying, "UPM always understands the need to provide students with relevant knowledge and skills in the real world. The INVESTED program is a proactive step to enhance students' understanding of the importance of financial and investment management in their future development."

Among the main activities of this programme are investment workshops that touch on the basic aspects of investment, risk management, and introduction to financial instruments. There is also an interactive session where students have the opportunity to discuss and ask questions on issues related to capital markets and investments.

Datuk Seri Abdul Jalil Hamid, Executive Director of the SC, stated, "Cooperation with educational institutions such as UPM is important in implementing initiatives such as INVESTED. Students are future generations and giving them knowledge of finance early on is essential to shaping thoughtful thinking in their financial management."

The programme is scheduled to be implemented in stages across universities in Malaysia, and the SC hopes that INVESTED will have a positive impact on UPM students especially in understanding the world of investment and finance. Students who participate in this program are expected to benefit from their career development and personal financial management. - CEM
