SUBANG JAYA: Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) improved its ranking by ranking fourth as the employer of choice among undergraduates in conjunction with the Graduate Choice Employer Award (GCA) 2024 Public University category.

UPM Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Student and Alumni Affairs), Prof. Dr. Arifin Abdu said last year, that UPM received the fifth place in the same award.

"This award proves that the UPM brand is one of the employers that are the choice of graduates to work", he said, receiving the award here.

Meanwhile, Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Graduate Employability (CEM) UPM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mass Hareeza Ali @ Hamid said UPM received the 24K gold-plated GCA trophy and a certificate of achievement from Talentbank Founder and Chairman of the 2023 Graduate Choice Employer Award, Ben Ho.

He said the choice of graduates was made through a survey conducted by Talentbank among 200,000 students across Malaysia for a year from 31 July 2022 to 31 July 2023.

Founded in 2010, Talentbank is a variable in the graduate employability ecosystem that focuses on producing candidates who are ready to plunge into the world-class job market.

Other award winners of public universities include Universiti Malaya, Universiti Teknologi MARA, Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Universiti Sains Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, Universiti Utara Malaysia, International Islamic University Malaysia, Universiti Pendidikan Sultan Idris and Universiti Malaysia Sarawak.

The Graduate Choice Award 2023 held at Sunway Hotel Resorts & Spa aims to celebrate and recognize the excellence of organisations working to bridge the gap between industry and academia from 46 job sectors such as accounting & professional services, automotive, banking, engineering, construction, entertainment, fashion, Fintech, health, petroleum & gas, manufacturing, retail, ICT, aviation, consulting, cosmetics, insurance, facilities management, telecommunications, social media, education, and many others.
