SERDANG, Aug 4 – UPM has successfully produced 45 digital freelancers among UPM students in the MOHE-MDEC Graduate Outsourcing Talent (GOT) Bootcamp Programme at Kolej Pendeta Za'ba (KPZ), Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) today.

The programme, which took place from July 29 to August 4, 2024, aims to empower local talent in a free world without borders. This allows them to get international jobs on digital platforms and earn a good income.

CEM Deputy Director, Ludinata Misnun said, all programme participants from among UPM students have been exposed to various modules and trainings that are relevant to the needs of the industry today.

"I see that the participants are diligently studying 3 digital disciplines that can be an income in this day and age, namely IT & Web Development, Creative Media and Social Media Manager.

"They can also use the knowledge and experience they have learned to generate extra income while still studying at university.

"I believe that the knowledge and experience gained will be a very valuable asset in building an excellent career in the future," he added.

Meanwhile, Jakcob Petrus, one of the participants, said that from face-to-face training sessions to mastering the freelance platform, every stage of this program is a step into the professional realm.

"One of the most satisfying aspects is the opportunity to connect with participants from diverse backgrounds. Interacting with individuals from different industries and cultures has broadened my perspective and enriched the learning experience.

"I am grateful to MOHE and MDEC, for their dedication to nurturing talent and promoting the growth of the industry. This programme has equipped me with the skills and confidence to succeed in the dynamic world of freelancing.", he explained.

The GOT Bootcamp programme was organised by the Ministry of Higher Education (MOHE) and Malaysia Digital Economy Corporation (MDEC) in collaboration with the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Graduate Employability (CEM).
