REMBAU, 19 April 2022 – A total of 15 students and 10 officers of Universiti Putra Malaysia have conducted the Social Enterprise @Rural Community Programme at Kampung Sungai Timun, Rembau Negeri Sembilan, here.

This program is implemented to help the community develop business skills in an effort to commercialize small and simple industry (IKS) products in the village.

In addition, this progam emphasizes the transfer of entrepreneurial knowledge from students to the community. They assist the community in financial flow management, packaging and product marketing. A total of three (3) community entrepreneurs participated in this programme where they were involved in the production of frozen food, crop fertilisers and restaurants.

"Thank you to CEM UPM for finally having a systematic financial record after entering this program", said Puan Faizah Osman, one of the participants of the program who runs the crop fertilizer business.

"I hope that this programme can be continued as well as open up a space for us to share knowledge to the community who need basic knowledge of business.", Said Nur Aina Amirah Azmi, a student of the Faculty of Agriculture who is a participant in this program.

Director of the Centre for Entrepreneurship Development and Graduate Employability (CEM), UPM, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Mass Hareeza Ali who is also a mentor of the programme said, the knowledge transfer programme from UPM student entrepreneurs to the community of Kampung Sungai Timun can help them to come up with new ideas in business. In fact, the creativity that exists as a result of the combination of the ideas of entrepreneurs and students increases the income of the community entrepreneurs involved.

The Social Enterprise @Rural Community program, organised by CEM in collaboration with the Ministry of Higher Education, has been started since February 2022 until now.
