UPM wins second place in Best of the Best, National Micro Enterprise Pitching Competition

AYER KEROH, Dec 19 – Kerjalah company, which consisted of three Universiti Putra Malaysia (UPM) students, has won second place in the Best of the Best category and second place in the Technology & Innovation category, at the National Micro Enterprise Pitching Competition.

UPM also won second place in the Food & Beverage category through the B-Flakes team, consisting of two group members.

Kerjalah team received RM3,000 in cash and a plaque and certificates after winning second place in the Best of the Best category, and RM2,000 as well as a plaque and certificates after finishing second in the Technology & Innovation category.

On the other hand, the B-Flakes team received RM2,000 as well as a plaque and certificates.

The prize was presented by the Minister of Higher Education, Datuk Seri Dr. Noraini Ahmad, at the Chancellor Hall, Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka, here.

Kerjalah team leader, Hoh Jia Da, said Kerjalah is an application that helps to bridge the gap between employers and employees in Malaysia.

The proposed solution takes into account and analyses the given problem statements, including AI Interactive Bot, Resume Analysis, Compatibility Assessment and Game-changer.

Kerjalah team also comprised of two other group members, Heon Hi Teng and Ali Imran Mohd Salleh.

Meanwhile, the B-Flakes team was joined by Adlina Jamaludin and Hong Cheng Yue.

The programme, held online from May 29 to June 13, 2021, involves four categories - Arts & Creative Industry, Food & Beverage, Technology & Innovation and Services.

The competition requires students from Higher Education Institutions to design new business models or streamline existing business models with the addition of technological and innovation elements using the Business Model Canvas (BMC) method.

It was organised by the Ministry of Higher Education in collaboration with Universiti Teknikal Malaysia Melaka and Universiti Teknologi Malaysia. - UPM
