Writing a Winning Resume

The first 10 seconds counts! Therefore, your resume should stand out from the rest and catch the employer’s attention. Your resume should look neat, clean, and organized. It should be typed and printed or photocopied on a good quality paper and contains no errors.

Tips on Writing a Winning Resume

  • Write it yourself - This will force you to organize your thoughts and personal information
  • Make it error free - Get someone to review your final draft for any errors
  • May it look good - Avoid using poor quality or cheap paper, and ensure you select a suitable font
  • Be brief and relevant - Many good resumes fit into one page; few needs more than two. Include only the most important points. Use action words
  • Be honest – Do not overstate your qualifications
  • Be positive – Emphasize your accomplishments and results. Avoid being humble
  • Edit – Write each of your resume drafts on a separate piece of paper. Make every word counts. Keep editing until your resume is good as you can make it. Then edit it again

Select a Suitable Font for your Resume
